For the TriZPUG bootcamp, they had an idea of how many people would sign up (~30 was their estimate), so we divided expenses (setup costs, trainer minus sponsorships) by 30 and got a per seat cost of $150.

Of course, they had a lot of people and sponsors (making it cheaper) and had to cover the trainer's hotel/food (making it pricier). We could probably end up with a cost of about $200 if we get a sponsor or two and about 15 students.

People have indicated that ~$200 is fine or even less than they could pay. I think it's good to charge for this--it has real value, and any money left over becomes an asset for ZPUG to let us do cool things (sponsor members to go to conferences, buy books, etc.)

$200-$500 --chris, Wed, 12 Jan 2005 15:04:45 -0600 reply
I think that it is really important to offer a two or three-tier program -- for students, for individuals, and for corporations. My company would be willing to pay $500+ for this training while ChrisAbraham? would be too cheap to pay more than $200. Students might get it even lower, maybe. Naw, students these days are rich, rich, rich. But we may offer a [scholarship]? for a worthy or two.

$200 for individuals is about right --diskind, Wed, 12 Jan 2005 23:04:47 -0600 reply
Don't think we want to go too much higher than this for people paying their own way.

Reduced rate for speakers / volunteers --joel, Thu, 24 Feb 2005 05:36:06 -0600 reply
One thing I would recommend is that we try to reduce the rate a bit for those who have either given a ZPUG presentation, or are going to actively volunteer to run the bootcamp.
