We are a small startup company dedicated to building advanced
literature-based discovery and knowledge management services for
(life) scientists. We are from very diverse backgrounds such as
biology, computer science, and linguistics. The drive of our company
is the observation that for an individual scientist, there is not
only too much to read and understand but also no convenient way to
combine and evaluate existing knowledge into potentially valid new
knowledge.
We will build web-based services, partly freely available, partly
subscription-based that will assist the individual researcher in
exploring the knowledge space of his interest. For example: a
biologist has been building expertise for several years on a few
proteins that are potentially involved in the onset of a certain
disease. The scientist is then not only interested in reading
anything available on the relevant proteins and diseases, but would
also be interested in emerging associations that have not yet been
proven but are highly likely based on the information contained in
diverse literatures.
We are a US-based company with employees both in the USA and Europe.
The main ideas and algorithms have been developed at the Erasmus
University, Rotterdam, The Netherlands and Leiden University, Leiden,
The Netherlands over the past few years. As there is a strong
connection with the academic world, we have first-hand insight in the
needs and requirements of our customers.
