All --
It sounds like, in general, we will want to have a meeting for
Tuesday.
This will be my last ZPUG meeting. As far as transition stuff goes:
- ZPUG website: I'm happy to host forever. You're welcome to move it someplace
else. I'm happy to transfer the name "zpugdc.org" to someone else.
Alex and Jules both have Manager access on the site, and can
update it. I'm happy to give others that privilege. Jules has
indicated that he would happy to arrange a future home for
zpugdc.org. There's no real hurry, though--my leaving doesn't
affect the site being up, so we can transfer it in the future
at our own pace.
- Meeting Space: PN is happy to keep hosting us. Jules is the
obvious person to manage this relationship.
- Selecting Speakers: *someone* or some group needs to take over
this.
- "Person In Obvious Charge": My experience is that things like
ZPUG need someone who is "in charge" for the simple stuff.
For example, when someone emails zpug and asks if we're
meeting on Christmas eve, or things like that, usually, there's
conversation on the mailing list, and everyone is expecting me
to chime in with some official consensus. Probably, someone
should step in and offer be the simple, single voice of zpug
for those kind of things. Happily, there's no reason for that
person to have to schedule all the speakers or keep the site
up.
As for meeting next Tuesday, I'm up for it.
I'd have a preference for the group to talk about the consulting end
of things for this meeting. Partially because I've been a Plone
consultant, but are not anymore, so it's my first chance to give out
info about what I learned, etc., without worrying about helping my
competitors, and partially because I'd love to hear how other people,
like Paul Boos, have been successfully running Zope/Plone developement
consulting. I'm in charge of *other* Plone consultants now, and would
benefit from success stories.
Of course, if others want to cover other things instead, that's fine--
but let's get some consensus soon ;)
Cheers,
- j

Alex,
I installed Fink, and then GraphViz as binary. all seemed fine. But,
Plone still doesn't seem to invoke it. Maybe I should try DarwinPorts
next

David in your terminal cd to the Products directory... once there run
this command:
grep -r graphviz *
you will notice it prints out the filenames containing instances of
the word graphiz
I think the magic you are looking for will be in the file config.py
in which which case look closely at the dependencies...
let me know if that doesn't work
-Jonah
config.py in Archetypes:
## If you have graphviz http://www.research.att.com/sw/tools/graphviz/
## and its frontend "dot" installed on your system set this to True
## You need dot version > 1.10 with cmapx support.
try:
GRAPHVIZ_BINARY = transform_utils.bin_search('dot')
except transform_utils.MissingBinary:
# graphviz not found
GRAPHVIZ_BINARY = None
HAS_GRAPHVIZ = False
else:
HAS_GRAPHVIZ = True
## comment out the following line to enable the reference graph tool
HAS_GRAPHVIZ = False
## protect attributes of AttributeStorage from unallowed access?
ATTRIBUTE_SECURITY = False

Yuesday is also fine with me. I understood from the slew of people that
wanted to postpone the first meeting of the month; that they wanted to
meet after the bootcamp all filled with excitement from it. Also I
beleive this is the last time that Joel will be in town for a ZPUG
meeting (in the foreseeable future. I for one would like to hear his
perspective on consulting.
Furthermore I wouldn't mind bandying about the idea of ZPUG sponsoring
regular botcamps, they could be a boon to the project, and prove
symbiotic by broadening our members knowledge and by doanting profits to
the foundation drive a small revenue stream.
Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Dang it, I simply can't do it tonight (have to take relatives to the
airport). I'd LOVE to do this any other day, any other time.
Sniffle.
