Dear ZPUGsters:

Great news!

We're gearing up for the Plone Marketing Summit in Boston
next weekend, when we're working with our PN account team
to plot Plone and PF's marketing strategies for the next
few years. I hope we'll have some great visibility coming
soon.

After Boston, I'm back in DC with Alexander Limi, co-founder
of Plone, who will be visiting the area for a few days.
I thought that, instead of our regular meeting, we could
change the date and have a meeting where Alex can present
on the future of Plone and Plone 2.1. Given that he lives
in Norway, he probably won't be in DC for a while, so this
might be our only chance. ;)

Anyway, I was thinking about:

"Plone 2.1 and the future of Plone"
  Alexander Limi
Th, Feb 17th, 7pm at Porter Novelli

And then we'd cancel our normal Third-Monday meeting.

Sound good?

- j.

Sounds like a great idea. Any chance of moving this to Tues. or Wed.?
I have a commitment every other Thursday evening and of course, the
17th is one of those commitments. Thanks,

David

Any chance of getting the meetings slipped one week? That would solve David's
problem and it would resync the meeting weeks with the week I work a
compressed work week. It was perfect last fall, then the meetings slipped by
a week in December.

Not sure what you mean by "slipped" -- our meetings have been 1st
Thursday and 3rd Monday since we started. Of course, depending on the
month itself, sometimes that 3rd Monday comes sooner than others.

I'm suggesting this switch so we can get Limi to a meeting. He's only
in town for about 48 hours, so our only option here is this night, or
not at all. If more people are interested in a meeting on the usual
3rd Monday date on the 21st, we can do that instead, but, of course,
we'll need to line up a presenter :)

I'm operating under the assumption (given the postive response I've
received to the idea of having the Limi meeting) that people would
rather switch to next Thursday. If a majority of people would prefer
something on the 21st, we can opt to keep our original date.

Regarding general changing of meeting dates: if people are interested
in a different schedule, that's fine--please post your suggestions,
get consensus on it, and we can move to those dates. As long as we
give them a few weeks of notice, I suspect any schedule will work
well for PN.

Cheers!

Since not responding to the suggested meeting on MLK was assumed to be an
implicit nay, I figure I'd better weigh in this time. ;-)

I'm up for accomodating a visitor, so next Thursday works fine for me.

After that, I opt for "we now return to our regularly scheduled broadcast"
unless something exceptional comes up.

My mistake. I thought the meetings were every other week. The shift is because
there are more than 28 days in some months. I'll be back in sync for April
May and June.

On a separate subject, Jeff Elkner is running a Python code fest every
Thursday evening at Yorktown High School in Arlington. The project of the
code fest is the development of a Zope based application for tracking
competency in education. It should be a nice blend of teaching Python and
developng an open source application for use by public school systems.
