Dear ZPUGsters:
It's sunny & beautiful 70 degrees here in San Jose, CA, where I'm working
with
other Plone developers to enhance Plone's handling of users and user data
(details at http://plone.org/events/sprints/sanjose;
I'm the coach for the
team doing http://plone.org/events/sprints/sanjose/PASIntegrationIntoPlone).
I'm hoping, by the end of the week, we'll have made great progress.
Amazingly enough, Jules opted *not* to come to this sprint and stay in DC.
He has, however, offered to host the ZPUG meeting, which is this Thursday
at 7pm at Porter Novelli. James will be presenting his ZPT-like-meta language
that was scheduled for the last meeting. It would be cool if people interested
in the ZPUG DC bootcamp idea could also fix some of the details and decide
if this is going to happen.
Details of the meeting, as always, are at zpugdc.org.
Have a great meeting, and I'll see everyone at a ZPUG meeting in the future!
- j.

All,
Unfortunately, I won't be able to come to the meeting tonight.
Regarding the ZPUG DC bootcamp idea, I hope we can make this happen as
it would be an enormous benefit to me and to others I'm sure. As to
the location, I have currently reserved the meeting room of the Burke
branch of the Alexandria library (at I-395 and Seminary Rd, about 15
minutes from downtown DC) for the entire week of 4/4/05. There are
other weeks that may be available as well. The hours would be Mon,
Tues. 9:00 to 4:00 and Wed - Fri., 9:00 to 5:00. The charge is a VERY
CHEAP $10/ hour. Please see the wiki ,
http://zpugdc.org/teams/bootcamp/FindASpace,
for more details. We
need to decide if this is satisfactory or not.
The only other venue I am investigating is one at American University.
Space there would only be available during the weeks of 3/7 - 3/11 or
5/9-5/13. It would cost $18/hour plus perhaps some sort of insurance
fee. I'm still trying to get the info, which is like pulling teeth.
Advantages over the Alex library are that there is a AU shuttle bus
from the Tenleytown Metro stop to AU and all rooms are set up for
wireless access to the internet.
Regarding the Alex library location, Chris suggested that "perhaps
they'd let us wire a WiFi Access Point into their network, then do
WiFi? for the bootcamp, with a few hard-wired ports. I've got an extra
WRT54g I could bring to the party". The library seems very willing to
work with us on this.
I look forward to hearing what folks at the meeting think.
Best regards,
David

Thanks for all the legwork, David.
I'm coming down with something but I can make somebody available if we
still want to meet tonight. The only reason I'm at the office is tonight
and I'll be surprised if I make through lunchtime (being at the office,
not sloping off this mortal coil).
Thoughts?

Hello all,
I am still able to attend tonight. I'd like to know if other's still
indend to do so, and I suppose my question is only whether i'll be
last to know if we are a go.
If not, i'd like to reschedule the presentation, or even give it
twice, but i'd sure like to show it. At this point i could post the
presentation and everything, but that doesn't beat a face to face.
Either way, i'm just a guy excited about a little pet project and hope
that the hobbyist in each of us understands ;)
thanks,
james

I've had a busy week (that isn't over yet) and foolishly stayed up very
late last night. So, if there isn't strong encouragement, I'll probably
bag it tonight. I don't know that I'll focus on anything even if I do
show up.

I'm getting ZPUGDC withdrawal but can survive another couple of weeks.
While I'm very interested in the presentation, the main
time-sensitive issue is the potential bootcamp, especially as David
Diskin has reserved some rather good sounding space the week of April
4th. (I could be up for that week.)
Perhaps we can continue discussion of bootcamping via email and wiki
in the intervening weeks and come to a conclusion.

I am up for tonight, but if there is a very small crowd I would not
object to postponing it.
