Interested in a part-time Zope/Plone consultant...
"Boos, Paul M." <PAUL.M.BOOS(at)saic.com>
2004-08-24 08:22:28 [ FULL ]
I am looking to have a member join my team part-time; as a ZPUGDC member,
thought this would be the best place to start. Here are the qualifications
I am looking for -

You must have a degree - preferably a technical one.
You must be a US Citizen.
At least 2 years of object-oriented programming experience; you must be
well-versed in OO.
Expertise in Python and Zope - preferably Plone as well
Expertise in CSS
Highly desirable would be expertise in LUPY/Lucene or some other search
engine
Highly desirable would be expertise in graphics design using Photoshop or
GIMP
Highly desirable would be expertise in XML
Highly desirable would be expertise in Adobe Acrobat technologies,
programming to their APIs and OCR capabilities, more than just the Reader
obviously.
Desirable would be expertise in Java and relational databases (Oracle,
mySQL, SQL Server) as well

The work environment:

You will be working in our Crystal City office; there may be some
flexibility to allow occasional work from home. You may also have to travel
occasionally to our customer location in Northwest DC.

You may either be a consultant to us or become a consulting employee which
has some limited benefits.

For those interested, please feel free to call me to discuss as well as send
me your resume (or a link to your resume if posted on-line) along with the
rate you typically charge.

Cheers!

Hi Paul,

I haven't made it to a meeting yet this year, which Joel is hounding me for.
I am forwarding my resume. I don't have all of the skills listed, but do alot
of Zope / Plone work.

I have enclosed my resume and responded to the skill reqs.
 [...]
Mathematics with a concentration in Computer Science
[...]
yes
 [...]
7+ years C++ and OO
[...]
Much Python and Zope for the last 4 years, clients include ARINC, Nature
Conservancy, MSD, and NIH. Had some long term contracts which have recently
expired waiting on responses to proposals.
[...]
3 years + CSS
[...]

 [...]
Not a graphic artist but have used both Photoshop and Gimp to manipulate
existing photographs and images
 [...]
Proficient in XML, recently using it extensively for configuration for
eFLightDeck(TM) platform for ARINC
 [...]
Have used APIs and OCR capabilities for mostly Reader type applications
[...]
Oracle, mySQL, and PostgreSQL

Not a perfect match, but I'll let you be the one to decide. My rate has been
between $60/hr and $80/hr depending on the length of contract.

Best wishes,
Michael Johnson
