Hello!

Thanks to everyone that stopped by the site to vote on topics of
interest and how to split our meetings. The results (so far) are:

Python-in-general versus Zope/Plone-specific 66.67% (8 votes)
Less-advanced versus More-advanced 25.00% (3 votes)
No split 8.33% (1 votes)

So it looks like we should do a Zope/non-Zope split. Since we've decided
to try meeting twice a month, let's make our next meeting, July 19, be
our first "Zope" meeting, then we'll swing back to Python-in-general for
  the first Thursday of August.

The interest topic poll is less decisive, but some strong contenders
come out. The items with 2 or more votes are:

ZOPE/PLONE STUFF:

Archetypes 14.04% (8 votes)
Plone (in general), and specifically, Plone skinning 12.28% (7 votes)
Best practices for SysAdmin setups for Zope/Plone 8.77% (5 votes)
Zope Workflow 7.02% (4 votes)
Speeding up Zope/Plone (caching, SpeedPack, etc.) 5.26% (3 votes)
ZCatalog 3.51% (2 votes)
SQL Storage and other ways of ...relational databases 3.51% (2 votes)
CMFMember 3.51% (2 votes)
CPS/Silva (alternatives to Plone for Zope CMS) 3.51% (2 votes)

PYTHON STUFF:

Text processing w/Python 7.02% (4 votes)
XML Tools 7.02% (4 votes)
Govt certification/bidding for Zope/Py/Plone projects 5.26% (3 votes)
Fat Python and other Python distributions 3.51% (2 votes)
Calendar servers 3.51% (2 votes)
Bioinformatics 3.51% (2 votes)

Given that serveral people piped up about wanting to learn more about
Archetypes at the first meeting and it was our highly rated topic, let's
do that first. I'd be happy to present on Archetypes.

If there's anything in the list of topics (or anything else!) you'd be
interested in doing at a future meeting, please let us know.
Specifically, a presentation on the higher-rated Python-in-General
topics would be great.

Also, if you'd like to do a mini-presentation on a Zope/Plone product or
idea for next Monday, or on a general Python library of technique for
later, please let us know!

I'd like to send out the announcement to the general world about our
next meeting today -- I've been keeping the list of places this is sent
to at http://zpugdc.org/about/planning/WhereToAnnounce
-- if you have
any other suggestions, please let me know!

Our upcoming meetings, then, would be:

Mo Jul 19: Zope -- Archetypes
Th Aug 5: Python
Mo Aug 16: Zope
Th Sep 2: Python
Mo Sep 20: Zope

Thanks! And look forward to seeing many of you next Monday.

- j.
